Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be impenetrable — if anything here is unclear, just ask.

1. Who is responsible

This website is operated by Segomotso Louw, trading as Loso Edits ("we", "us"), a video production and editing practice based in South Africa. For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"), we are the responsible party for the personal information described below.

2. What we collect

We collect only what you choose to give us, plus the minimum our hosting creates automatically.

Information you send us

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address and/or phone number, and the message you write. If you contact us by email, WhatsApp or social media instead, we receive whatever that platform shows us, which typically includes your name or handle and your message.

Information created automatically

Our hosting provider records standard technical data when a page is requested — including your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is ordinary server logging, used to keep the site running and secure. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

What we do not collect

We run no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. We set no cookies. We do not buy, sell or rent personal information, and we have no interest in doing so.

3. Why we use it, and on what basis

We use your contact details and message for one purpose: to read your enquiry and reply to it, and to carry out any work that follows. Under POPIA this processing is justified because it is necessary to respond to a request you made and to take steps toward a possible contract between us. Technical log data is processed for our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functioning website.

4. Who else sees it

We keep this list short deliberately. Your information reaches:

• Formspree — processes contact form submissions and forwards them to our email. Your form contents pass through their systems.
• Netlify — hosts this website and generates the server logs described above.
• Google (Gmail) — where enquiries land and are read.

That is the whole list. Every script, font and image on this site is served from this site, so simply browsing it does not hand your IP address to any third party beyond our host.

These providers are located outside South Africa, mainly in the United States and Europe, so your information is transferred across borders. POPIA permits this where the recipient is subject to laws or binding agreements providing comparable protection; each of the providers above publishes its own data protection commitments. We share information with nobody else unless the law requires it.

5. How long we keep it

Enquiries stay in our email for as long as there is a reason to keep them — an ongoing conversation, a live project, or records of completed work we may need for tax or dispute purposes. Where there is no such reason, we delete them. You can ask us to delete your enquiry at any time and we will, unless we are legally required to keep it.

6. Your rights

POPIA gives you the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy
• have inaccurate information corrected
• have information deleted or destroyed where we no longer have grounds to keep it
• object to our processing of your information
• complain to the Information Regulator

Email us and we will deal with it. We will not charge you for a reasonable request, and we will not make it difficult.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa), whose contact details are published at inforegulator.org.za. We would rather you came to us first, but that is your right either way.

7. Security

This site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and form submissions are encrypted in transit. That said, no website can promise perfect security, and email in particular is not a secure medium. Please do not send sensitive personal information — identity numbers, banking details, medical information — through the contact form.

8. Children

This site is aimed at people seeking video production services and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.

9. Links to other sites

Our pages link to platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and WhatsApp. Once you follow a link you are on their website under their privacy policy, not ours, and we have no control over what they do.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes affecting how we use information you have already given us will be communicated directly where we can.
